The government of Uttar Pradesh has launched a new initiative called the 'School Health Program', which is being piloted in three schools by Lucknow Smart City. As part of the project, a digital health report card is being created to monitor the physical and mental well-being of 1,765 municipal school students, and the children will also receive health insurance worth Rs 25,000.

If the pilot is successful, the program will be expanded to the other nine smart cities in the state. The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Roshan Jacob, Lucknow Divisional Commissioner and Lucknow Smart City Chairperson, and executed by Municipal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Lucknow Smart City, Indrajit Singh.

The health tech startup, STUFIT, was registered under the Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy to support this initiative. This program is an improvement over the previous efforts for children's health, as it involves school mapping and visits by the health department team for check-ups under the National Child Health program.
