The recent launch of Chandrayaan 3 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has spurred the initiation of the 'Apna Chandrayaan' program, a UGC quiz, and educational endeavors by MyGov. The successful event orchestrated by ISRO has inspired the Ministry of Education to raise awareness about opportunities in space exploration among students. On October 16, the Ministry of Education unveiled the 'Apna Chandrayaan' program and encouraged educational institutions to promote this initiative to encourage greater participation.
'Apna Chandrayaan' is an online platform featuring activity-based learning resources, including coloring books, online quizzes, and jigsaw puzzles related to India's Chandrayaan mission. This platform, developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), offers a simplified explanation of the Chandrayaan mission suitable for students, covering scientific, technological, and social aspects. It comprises 10 specialized topics focused on Chandrayaan 3 to facilitate a comprehensive understanding.
As announced by the Ministry, the event is scheduled to take place on October 17 at New Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi, with the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan serving as the chief guest. The event will also be graced by a guest of honor, the chairperson of ISRO, and the secretary of the Department of Science, Sreedhara Panicker Somanath.
Previously, a similar initiative was undertaken by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which introduced the Chandrayaan-3 Maha Quiz for students. This quiz is designed to assess students' comprehension of the Chandrayaan-3 project and space science in general. Its purpose is to educate the public about the nation's space exploration endeavors and inspire students to pursue further education in this field.
Interested students can register for the Chandrayaan-3 Maha Quiz on the official UGC website until October 31, 2023.
In collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), MyGov is hosting the Chandrayaan-3 Maha Quiz. The quiz will consist of multiple-choice questions related to Chandrayaan-3, space science, and general knowledge about space exploration. Participants will be presented with four answer choices for each of the 10 questions and will have 300 seconds to respond.
