India readies youth for new opportunities via education and skills, say PM Narendra Modi

He highlighted the pivotal role of a strong and skilled youth population in driving the country's development, asserting that India's focus on skill development continues to expand.
Prime Minister Modi pointed out that India's new National Education Policy represents a significant overhaul after nearly four decades. He emphasized the government's efforts in establishing numerous new medical colleges and skill development institutions, including prestigious ones like IITs, IIMs, and ITIs. Modi noted that millions of young individuals have received training through the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and efforts are being made to reinforce traditional sectors that provide employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister conveyed that the world views the 21st century as India's era of prominence and anticipates India's contribution in terms of skilled youth. He shared that India's proposal for global skill mapping had recently been accepted at the G20 Summit, promising better prospects for the country's youth in the future. Modi stressed that India is now making unprecedented investments in the skill development of its youth, exemplifying the success of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in empowering young individuals at the grassroots level.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the expanding opportunities for India's youth as the nation's economy grows. He noted that employment generation in India has reached new heights and cited a recent survey showing the country's lowest unemployment rate in six years.

During the event, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed that nearly 10.6 lakh (1.06 million) young individuals had received certificates through the convocation.

The Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh took place in New Delhi and saw the participation of students from esteemed skill development institutions, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, Industrial Training Institutes, Skill India International Centre, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan. This event underscored India's dedication to equipping its youth with the skills and education needed to seize emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving world.
