Former Vice President Naidu Advocates Women's Education and Gender Parity at IGDTUW Convocation

Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu emphasized the crucial role of women's education in national progress during the sixth convocation ceremony of the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW). Naidu stated that educating women is fundamental for the advancement of society and the nation as a whole.

Highlighting the increasing participation of women in various fields, Naidu stressed the need for greater gender parity. While acknowledging the progress made, he pointed out that more efforts are required, including ensuring equal rights in property inheritance.

Naidu praised IGDTUW for its focus on innovation and entrepreneurship in academic pursuits. He also discussed the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, urging states not to politicize its implementation. Naidu encouraged universities and teachers to familiarize themselves with the policy and implement it positively.

Additionally, Naidu advocated for multilingualism, citing the opposition to Hindi in some southern states. He emphasized the importance of learning multiple languages for personal and professional growth.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, the University's Chancellor, inaugurated the convocation ceremony, where degrees were conferred upon 552 undergraduates, 172 postgraduates, and 15 doctorates. Saxena advised graduates to follow their passions and contribute to the country's development.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding students with 'Chancellor Gold Medals' and 'Vice-Chancellor Gold Medals' across various disciplines.
